Introduction I developed a passion for offroading at a young age. The thrill and challenge of pushing a vehicle to its limits and beyond helps satisfy my taste for adventure. Offroading is a combination of skilled driving, an adventurous spirit, an imaginitive mind, logical reasoning, thrill seeking, a love of the outdoors, and a passion for automobiles. These qualities are ever present in my personality. When I was introduced to offroading it quickly became a passion. When I was 16 the family car was passed down to me. It was a 1976 four door Chevy Nova. It had no resemblance of the truck I had been wanting. But, not many of us got the car we wanted at age 16. I quickly learned that the offroad capability of my vehicle was close to nothing. It had saging springs- giving it no clearance and a soft suspension, small 14" street tires- providing very limited traction, not to mention it was a big heavy four door car from the 70s. The only things my car had going for it was that it had a straight six engine with lots of torque, posi traction, and its value was low so there was no hesitation to modify it. The picture to the right is the result of my modifications. Now my Baja Nova can travel jeep trails, cross sand dunes, and go places that most people wouldn't dare take their expensive, new SUVs. Below is a list of my modifications. |
